To our readers:
YachatsNews is going to take a break from daily news gathering chores until Jan. 3 to allow time to celebrate the holidays and catch up with some longer projects and finishing up an application to become a recognized nonprofit.
That is, of course, unless a whale washes up on the beach, a wayward military jet rattles the coastline with another sonic boom, or a city council calls a special meeting on some urgent topic. Let’s hope not. It’s time for a bit of quiet and to celebrate Christmas and New Years.
I will spend maybe an hour a day posting any relevant stories from two state news services, police briefs and reports, and any other short announcements. But mostly I need to finish up a few “project” stories and the nonprofit application to the Internal Revenue Service. You can read more about the whys and wherefores of that here.
If you are reading this, you are among the more than 90,000 people who each month visit the news site to learn a bit more of what’s going on in south Lincoln County. YachatsNews has seen a nearly doubling of its readership in 2021 and hopes to continue that trend in 2022. Thank you.
YachatsNews is also trying to become financially self-sufficient. There are a lot of organizations and people seeking contributions and help this time of year, but if you want to help support local news gathering efforts before the end of the year, go here.
Otherwise, happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Let’s all pledge to start 2022 determined to get through whatever comes at us with both strength and grace.
See you Jan. 3.
