FLORENCE — Remember that two-year-long reconstruction project of U.S. Highway 101 through Florence that built curbs, sidewalks and replaced asphalt?
Residents of south Lincoln County who travel to their Lane County neighbor should get ready for another year’s worth of similar work stretching from the intersection of Oregon 126 all the way north to Munsel Lake Road.
The Oregon Department of Transportation has split the $3.5 million project into two phases. The first phase starts this month and will focus on constructing new sidewalk ramps at 20 existing street corners. The second phase is scheduled to begin in July and will build 82 street ramps and street corners. The project also involves highway crossings with flashing lights.
In a news release, ODOT said it would on one direction of the highway at a time, but said there could still be lane closures.

Expect the same bumpouts and lost parking in Florence that messed up Yachats. All in the name of “Progress”. “Monorail” comes to mind.
