Oregon State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the people responsible for killing a bull elk Sunday, Jan. 7 on Harlan Road in east Lincoln County and leaving it to waste.
In a news release Wednesday, police said Fish and Wildlife troopers from Newport responded to a report of a bull elk shot and killed in a clearing near milepost 4 on Harlan Road. The carcass was located approximately 100 yards from a Weyerhauser gate above Harlan Road.
The bull elk is believed to have been shot the night before, troopers said, and the elk had two hindquarters removed from the carcass and the majority of the meat was left to waste.
Police said anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Oregon State Police Dispatch at 1-800-452-7888, *OSP (*677), or email at TIP@osp.oregon.gov. Reference case number SP-008527.

I wish they would attempt to put up some cameras. I think it might help with dumping of motorhomes and poaching, put some gates up that close at 9 pm. I don’t understand if you are going to kill an animal why you would leave it there to be wasted. So if this is happening at night they must have night goggles. Hopefully someone who knows something will come forward and turn them in and maybe having a reward will help. I hope so.
