Lincoln Health and Human Services clinics has started offering flu shots and student vaccinations and its three clinics and health centers located at Waldport, Taft, Newport, and Toledo high schools.
Walk-in clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31 at the county’s Nye Clinic, 36 S.W. Nye St., Newport:
Additional flu clinics around the county are:
- 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4: 60+ Center in Newport;
- 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8: Angell Job Corps, Yachats;
- 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Monday Oct. 14: Oregon Coast Community College, South Beach,
- 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18: Yachats Presbyterian Church;
- 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 23: Seashore Family Literacy Center, Waldport ;
- 6-7:30 p.m. Friday Nov. 1: Centro de Ayuda, Newport.
The four school health centers provide vaccines; the Waldport High School center can be reached by calling 541-265-0471.
The county health agency says additional steps people can take to protect themselves and others from the flu are to:
- Wash hands often with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
- Cover coughs and sneezes;
- Stay home when sick;
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; and,
- Keep surfaces that may have flu germs on them cleaned and disinfected.
