Yachats and Waldport customers of Dahl Disposal will see a rate increase on their August bills after approval Wednesday and Thursday from city councils in the two towns.
Toledo-based Dahl, which has 7,500 customers in Yachats, Waldport, Siletz, Toledo and unincorporated Lincoln County, requested permission to raise its rates 3.15 percent.
Yachats customers using a 35-gallon cart will see a new rate of $40.30 a month, an increase of $1.25; 65-gallon cart users will pay $67.45, an increase of $2.05; and 95-gallon cart users will pay $97.55, an increase of $3 per month.
Waldport customers will pay $40.20 a month for a 35-gallon cart, an increase of $1.25; $67.20 for 65-gallon cart, an increase of $2.05; and 97.15 for a 95-gallon cart, an increase of $2.95 per month.
The increase is calculated by an independent assessment of the change in the cost of goods and services in the region, said Dahl outreach manager Dave Larmouth.
The company hauled more than 10,000 tons from Lincoln County last year. It recycled 2,700 tons of scrap metal; 1,900 tons of mixed compostable; 1,250 tons of mixed recyclables; and 713 tons of other materials.
In the fall, Dahl added the option for customers to recycle food waste to their yard debris bins for curbside pickup.
Yvonne says
I stopped doing business with them within months of moving to Yachats in 2018 because they were a rip off and did not even recycle my glass. I pay $11 a month at the transfer station in Florence and they give me a credit for the recycling and being a senior.
