YACHATS – The city of Yachats’ 2024-25 proposed budget was passed unanimously by the city’s 10-member budget committee after eight hours of discussions over two meetings.
The proposed budget now goes to the five-member city council, all of whom are on the budget committee, for final approval June 12.
Yachats started the year with $10.2 million set aside in savings. The budget projects collecting $7.5 million in revenue throughout the course of the year and spending $9.48 million.
The breakdown of significant income includes $1.9 million from water and sewer fees; $1.38 million from transient rental taxes; $460,000 from food and beverage taxes; and $95,000 from property taxes.
Larger expenditures include $1.54 million for employee salaries and benefits; $3.73 million for capital projects which includes rebuilding the library, repairs to the Little Log Church Museum and planning for the estuary walkway, $1.71 million for materials and services; $624,000 for debt services; and $133,000 for contingencies.
Accounting for all revenue and expenses, the city is projecting $8.18 million set aside in savings at the close of the 2024-25 budget year next June 30.
