YACHATS – Yachats city hall is closed through Friday this week for staff training.
On Monday, the seven-member city hall went over the Oregon municipality state handbook and laws, said city manager Bobbi Price. They will talked about how commissions and elected officials work with staff and administration. Ethics, procurement, licensing and regulations will all be discussed.
On Tuesday, staff will review Yachats’ administrative policies, its municipal code and charter. Particular attention will be given to what needs updating and how policies, codes and charters relate to different staff positions and internal procedures.
On Wednesday, safety procedures are on tap in the morning and then the laws regarding materials that need to be retained and maintained and the procedures for doing that.
On Thursday, staff will go over standard operating procedures and templates it works from. Existing templates will be upgraded where needed and new procedures added where necessary, Price said, and a will be organized into “live document folders” that can be easily adjusted and accessed by staff.
On Friday, staff will work individually on implementing standard operating procedures that fall within their responsibilities.
“This is essential training for employees to make sure everyone feels secure in their job, to invest in their futures and assuring the city runs smoothly,” said Price. “It is also a great opportunity for team building.”
