WALDPORT – Oregon State Police on Wednesday identified the man killed Feb. 7 as he left Governor Patterson State Park and drove into the path of a southbound vehicle on U.S. Highway 101
Police said Gordon E. Dale, 77, of Waldport was in his Toyota Prius attempting to pull out of the park to head north about 5:50 p.m. but drove into the path of a southbound Subaru Outback driven by Boone V. Ogden, 46, of Seal Rock. Boone’s vehicle hit the Prius on the driver’s side door, police said.
Dale was taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital where he died, police said. Ogden and two passengers suffered minor injuries.
State police said the release of information about the accident was delayed for eight days as they tried to notify Dale’s next of kin.
