To the editor:
In 2017 the citizens of Lincoln County voted to support Measure 21-177 to ban aerial spraying of pesticides. However, after a 29-month ban, the measure was pre-empted by the courts and corporate interests. Now there are plans to begin pesticide spraying in Beaver Creek.
Residents of Seal Rock and Beaver Creek are panicking for multiple reasons. The environmental impact will not only be immediate and invasive for years to come. The toxicity levels will destroy the ecosystem and run into the ocean, which is already suffering the effects of global warming. Once our ocean starts dying, the long-term impact includes the permanent disfigurement and death of marine life and habitats, as well as the destruction of our vital food chain.
Is there no concern for our coastal environment or the generations in our future? People need to be vocal about this or we will all suffer the consequences.

Yes, we all need to bond together and ensure this does not simply, pass by us like most topics in the news these days. This needs to be in the forefront of or minds. We need to act together and now.
