The board and members of Central Coast Chorale, a community chorus since 1998, have changed the group’s name to Coastal Voices, as part of a newly developed post-pandemic vision.
The Central Coast Chorale group — now Coastal Voices — has performed seasonal vocal music up and down the central Oregon coast for 25 years at venues located primarily in Yachats, Newport, and Lincoln City.
“Only a global pandemic could keep the chorale off the stage from the spring of 2020 to the fall of 2022,” said Rhodd Caldwell, the group’s artistic director.
After the forced hiatus, the choir regrouped with Caldwell as its new artistic director and a renewed vision.
To celebrate that return, the organization decided to re-name itself as Coastal Voices. In a news release announcing the change, the organization said its mission remains the same — to create a sustainable and inclusive organization that celebrates, promotes and develops the choral arts.
Practice sessions are held from 6-8 p.m. each Tuesday at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W. Olive St., Newport. For more information, go to the Coastal Voices new website, call 541-283-6295 or email CVinfo@coastal-voices.org.
