FLORENCE — The Three Rivers Foundation, established by the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians as the charitable arm of its Three Rivers Casino Resort, has awarded $1.1 million in funding to 117 organizations in Oregon.
The foundation had a major increase in applications this year, allowing it to grant 62 nonprofits first-time grant funding.
The Three Rivers Foundation supports innovative ideas, collaborative approaches and grassroots efforts in education, health, public safety, problem gambling, the arts, the environment, cultural activities and historic preservation.
Nonprofits or organizations in counties that received grants are located in Coos, 21; Curry, 4; Douglas, 15; Lane, 72; Lincoln, 2; and other areas, 3.
The Three Rivers Casino Resort is owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians. The Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, & Siuslaw Indians are made up of three tribes including two bands of Coos Tribes — Hanis Coos and Miluk Coos; the Lower Umpqua Tribe; and, the Siuslaw Tribe.
