The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund has awarded $192,000 to 31 nonprofit and other organizations for the third quarter of 2022.
Since its inception in 2001, the seven-member charitable fund advisory board has distributed more than $16.3 million, using proceeds from the Chinook Winds casino in Lincoln City. Chinook Winds has also donated more than $6.5 million in cash and fund-raising items since it opened in 1995.
The next deadline to submit applications is Dec. 1. Eligibility for money from the fund is limited to entities and activities located in the Siletz Tribe’s 11-county service area which includes Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties; and, Native American entities and activities located anywhere in the United States.
Lincoln County groups receiving grants included:
- Pacific Communities Health District Foundation: $50,000 to help with construction costs for a substance use disorder residential and intensive outpatient recovery center in Newport;
- Eddyville Charter School: $586 for supplies for dissection class;
- Oregon Coast Aquarium: $10,000 to help provide free/reduced admission to the aquarium;
- Siletz Valley Schools: $45,740 for resurfacing and installation of small gym floor;
- Altrusa International of Yaquina Bay: $2,500 for supplies for Project School Bell;
- Lincoln County chapter of Special Olympics of Oregon, Depoe Bay: $2,960 for equipment, transportation, meals, advertising, uniforms, rental fees and lodging;
- Waldport Lion’s Club: $2,000 for food for backpack program;
- Toledo History Center: $1,00 to purchase large display case;
- Waldport Chamber of Commerce: $3,000 for training, advertising and materials;
- Ocean Beaches 4-H Club, Seal Rock: $750 for registration fees;
- East Lincoln County Emergency Responders, Toledo: $4,600 for patient lifting device;
- Seal Rock Fire District: $6,201 to replace expired personal protective equipment;
- Siletz Valley Friends of the Library: $800 for liability insurance; and
- Siletz Valley Grange No. 558: $746 for liability insurance.
