To the editor:
While the campaigns for state and federal offices have figured most visibly into Democratic Party endorsements, Lincoln County progressives are keenly aware of the impacts of local government officials on the functioning of our county and our cities and the consequences that decisions made on local levels have on our everyday lives.
That’s why Lincoln County Democrats have made endorsements in this election’s non-partisan races, throwing support behind county commissioner candidate Casey Miller, Waldport mayoral candidate Greg Holland and Waldport city council candidate Susan Woodruff.
The importance of non-partisan local elections at every level of government has become increasingly apparent as quality-of-life issues become subjects of contention. Officials in county and municipal offices decide where local moneys are spent and can make real impacts on a range of issues including environmental protections, housing shortages, public health and safety, and the protections of our social safety net.
It’s crucial that we pay close attention to all the moving parts of our political system and work towards ensuring that our progressive values are reflected at every level of government.
Miller, Holland and Woodruff will bring a progressive point of view to their respective offices at a time when progressive values are being challenged at every level of government. Lincoln County Democrats urge you to support Casey Miller for Lincoln County commissioner, Greg Holland for Waldport mayor and Susan Woodruff for Waldport city council.
