GLENEDEN BEACH – Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor in a collision on U.S. Highway 101 that killed a 74-year-old Lincoln City woman Friday night, according to Oregon State Police.
State police said Kendra L. Peracca, 57, of Gleneden Beach was driving south on Highway 101 just north of Gleneden Beach in her Toyota FJ Cruiser when she crossed over the center line and collided head on with an Acura being driven by Nancy A. Vickstrom of Lincoln City.
Peracca was taken to a hospital by Life Flight with life-threatening injuries, police said. Vickstrom was also taken by Life Flight but sustained fatal injuries, police said, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash, police said in a news release Sunday.
The highway was closed for six hours while the state police collision reconstruction unit investigated. State police were was assisted by North Lincoln Fire and Rescue, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon Department of Transportation’s incident response.
