The Yachats Coastal Gems walking group is inviting the public to join members on a walk along the ocean in Yachats and hike to the Amanda statue on Tuesday, July 2. The walk has cool views, easy walking and a bit of forest for those who choose the longer walk.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a six-foot non-extendable lead.
The first one and one half miles is out along the 804 Trail and returns on the trail in south Yachats. The three-mile walk does not hike up any hills and does not go to the Amanda statue. The longer, six-mile route continues and climbs up the Oregon Coast Trail to Amanda’s statue.
Walk a little, a lot or the whole six miles. The group’s distance and speed of walking is tailored to those at the walk that day. Walking sticks and sturdy shoes recommended.
RSVPs are greatly appreciated. Call or text Maryann Brown at 541-961-4279 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for more information or email organizers at yachatscoastalgems@gmail.com
Walkers will meet inside the front corner of the Overleaf Lodge lobby at 9:45 a.m. for registration, then will drive to the start of the walk.
