YACHATS — The 12th annual tour of the farms and ranches along the Yachats River Road will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 featuring locally grown fruits, vegetables, grass-fed beef, baked goods, jams, refreshments, and live music.
Five farms will be open for visitors, each featuring a different attraction, most with local produce for sale.
Here’s this year’s lineup:
- Seeds of Oregon, 1603 Yachats River Road, will offer vegetables, and plants, for sale;
- Forks Farm, 8 North Fork River Road, offering organic fruits, blueberries, cut flowers, jams, produce and handmade aprons;
- Turn right at the intersection and follow the South Fork of the Yachats River to Wind River Farm, 8402 South Fork River Road, offering fruit, produce and award-winning, locally made pottery;
- Yaquina Nursery, 9724 South Fork River Road, this nationally-known nursery features cacti and succulents from literally all over the world;
- The Ranch, 10740 South Fork River Road. Nancy Kromer’s property rests in a serene meadow setting with barn, pond, river, shade trees, and picnic tables, for visitors to enjoy. A wide variety of livestock – including, cows, chickens and geese – wander through the pastures. Free hot coffee will be available with home-baked goods, honey and jams for sale.
The Ranch will also offer music by accordionists Jim and Shirley O’Brien of Yachats, the Oregon Coast Recorder Society, and the African Drum Circle, starting at 10 a.m. Admission to all venues is free and parking is readily available.
