YACHATS — If the post-pandemic (fingers crossed) era has you looking for ways to be involved in the community, a “Kindness Fair” from 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday can be a “one-stop-shopping” event for volunteering.
Some 20 local and countywide organizations will be represented at Yachats Community Presbyterian Church to share information about their work and volunteer opportunities. The church is wrapping up its April “Spread Kindness Month” with the fair, which will be staged in the sanctuary.
People can also get a free soup-and-bread dinner during the event.
Organizations scheduled to participate include: Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program, Cape Perpetua Collaborative, Sea-Aire Assisted Living, Court Appointed Special Advocate of Lincoln County, Yachats Lions Club, Yachats Ladies Club, View the Future, Yachats Trails Team/Yachats Invasive Plants Squad, Leta’s Legacy, Yachats Food Bank, Oregon Shores/Coast Watch, YCPC Earth Care Team, YCPC Prayer Shawl Ministry, Yachats Arts Guild, Yachats Chamber of Commerce, Yachats library volunteers/commission, 4H Club. Dahl Disposal will also be on hand with information about recycling.
“The fair is a great way to learn about the many volunteer opportunities in our area,” said Kelly Simmons, the church’s Kindness Month coordinator. “For those who may be ‘re-emerging’ after the pandemic, or are recent arrivals, we invite everyone to come and explore the many ways to be involved in life on the central coast.”
Additional organizations wanting to participate may contact Simmons at 303-549-9465, or simply show up for the event.
Also scheduled during the event are a T-shirt giveaway, a raffle of gift certificates for area businesses and artwork donated by The Laughing Crab gallery in Florence.
