SILETZ — Alfred “Bud” Lane III, Delores Pigsley and Bonnie Petersen were elected to the Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians in elections held Saturday. They were sworn in Sunday.
Lane, from Siletz, was re-elected with 417 votes; Pigsley, from Keizer, was re-elected with 395 votes; and Petersen, also from Siletz, was elected with 297 votes. Ten candidates ran for three open positions with the three who received the most votes joined the nine-member board.
Lane, Piglsey and Petersen will serve with Loraine Butler and Selene Rilatos, both of Siletz, and Robert Kentta of Logsden, whose terms expire in 2023; and Sharon Edenfield, Angela Ramirez and Frank Aspria, all of Siletz, whose terms expire in 2024.
Term of office is three years for each position on the nine-member council.
Enrolled members of the Siletz Tribe who are age 18 and older are eligible to vote in tribal elections. The Tribe has more than 5,500 enrolled members. There were 831 ballots returned and accepted.
