YACHATS – Children can enjoy snacks and coloring while their parents collect free holiday gifts for them from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday when the Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program stages its annual “Santa Breakfast” in conjunction with the Yachats Lions Club.
The event takes place in the Yachats Commons. Lions Club members will be serving doughnuts, juice and coffee — and provide a Santa to preside over the event.
But YYFAP is still looking for toys and gifts appropriate for children 10 and older, said executive director Patricia Hettinger, especially puzzles, games, science kits and art supplies. Gifts can be dropped off at YYFAP offices in the basement of the Commons. The free gifts will be bagged, but unwrapped, and include a craft kit, stocking stuffers and a present for each child.
“We’re excited to be able to have a Santa breakfast this year, and look forward to seeing everybody,” said Hettinger.
No reservations are needed, but parents are urged to pre-register so that YYFAP can assemble their children’s gifts and have them ready Saturday. There is a web page for registration.
People with questions about gift donations and the breakfast can call the YYFAP office at 541-547-4599.
YYFAP is a nonprofit serving families in south Lincoln County with pre-school and after-school programs.
