Oregon State Police are asking help in solving two recent poaching incidents in Lincoln County.
Wildlife troopers said Thursday that a person found a Blacktail doe that had been shot and left to waste about 150 yards north of Euchre Creek Road in Newport on Oct. 28 The person had first seen the deer alive two days earlier.
Police are requesting help with information about the case by calling the state police turn-in-poachers reward line at 1-800-452-7888, by cell phone at *OSP (*677) or send an email tip to TIP@osp.oregon.gov and reference case SP21304967.
Wildlife troopers are also investigating an elk carcass found Oct. 21 by a deer hunter on Hancock Forest property due east of Yaquina Head. The cow elk carcass was in a clear cut off a spur road and had much of its meat removed. Investigators believe the elk was killed the same day it was called in.
