FLORENCE – A California woman driving in the wrong lane Wednesday morning seven miles south of Florence collided with a truck, killing her and the driver of the truck, according to Oregon State Police. The crash occurred about 7:20 a.m. three miles south of Woahink Lake.
State police said their preliminary investigation indicated a Ford Contour driven by Rhonda Wild, 51, of Fresno was headed north in the southbound lane when it collided with a southbound Nissan Titan pulling a boat, operated by Jason Smith, 46, of Prineville.
Both Wild and Smith suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Two of the Nissan’s passengers, Heidi Smith, 47, of Prineville and a juvenile were injured and taken to Peace Harbor Medical Center in Florence.
