Yachats got just over three inches of rain in March, the lowest total for that month in the last 10 years.
Rainfall measured at the city’s wastewater treatment plant on West Seventh Street for March was 3.06 inches. But in February, Yachats got the second-most rainfall in the past 10 years with more than 12 inches.
March is usually the second wettest month of the year, getting an average of 10.73 inches, according to the city’s records. The most March rainfall in the past 10 years was 20.32 inches in 2012; the lowest until this year was 3.64 in 2013.
For the year, Yachats rainfall is about 20 percent below normal.
Through the first three months of 2019, Yachats has received 21.11 inches of rain, according to the city. The average for the past 10 years is almost 27 inches of rain for the period.
