NEWPORT — Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital is seeking local residents to give it advice on how to improve care.
Patient advisers are part of ongoing efforts to improve patient satisfaction, provide feedback for health care providers and promote a better understanding of health care among patients and the community. The advisers are asked to serve one to two-year terms, attend periodic advisory council meetings, share patient and family member perspectives, and provide feedback. The role should take 1-4 hours a month.
“We listen carefully to our advisers’ feedback and suggestions and work to make changes in areas that need improvement,” said Cindy Cabrera, director of the hospital’s quality resources department.
Anyone who has been a patient or has had a family member who was a patient at Samaritan Pacific within the last three years can apply. Cabrera said other qualifications include the ability to listen and communicate well, look beyond personal health-care experiences to assist others, contribute in a productive way and respect diverse perspectives and opinions.
Contact the hospital’s quality resources department at 541-574-4866 to apply.
