The Lincoln County School District is looking for someone from the Waldport-Tidewater-Yachats area to help it review its spending proposals and yearly budget.
The district’s budget committee consists of five board members and five other citizens who must live in the board members’ respective zones.
The district is looking for three new budget committee members – one each from Zones 5, 4 and 1. Zone 5 represents the south Lincoln communities of Waldport, Yachats and Tidewater. Zone 1 represents north county areas, including Lincoln City and Otis, and Zone 4 represents the east county areas of Toledo, Siletz and Eddyville areas.
The district said the time commitment is usually 4-10 hours each May and includes reviewing the proposed budget document to be released May 6, and participation in the meeting of the Budget Committee on May 13. Two additional meetings are scheduled for May 18 and May 20, should they be needed.
Past experience with budgets is helpful but not required. Training will be provided in April. The positions for Zones 1 and 5 are for three budget cycles. Zone 4 will be for two budget cycles.
People interested in serving in this volunteer position may not be school district employees, must live in the respective zone, and must be registered voters.
Applications are available on the school district website under the “Get Involved” drop-down menu (www.lincoln.k12.or.us) and at the district administration office, 1212 N.E. Fogarty St., Newport.
