September in Yachats had unusually strong east winds that reached 55-60 miles an hour that led to massive wildfires and choking smoke – but it was very average in terms of rainfall.
The city of Yachats recorded 2.23 inches of rain at its wastewater treatment plant in September, bringing the total for the year to 40.06 inches.
September’s total was very average — the fifth highest in the last 10 years of records, just slightly below Yachats’ monthly average of 2.56 inches.
The total rainfall in Yachats so far for 2020 is 2.53 inches below the average nine-month total over the past 10 years. That average is 42.59 inches.
