Crash – Non-injury
Location 101, Mile post 151 151 NB, LINCOLN OR USA
Narrative Summary
On 5/24/2020 OSP responded to a cold crash that occurred on US-101 milepost 151. The vehicle was a 2002 black Honda Accord. There were no occupants near the vehicle, or inside. The vehicle appeared to be left in that location for quite some time. Based on the roadway evidence, it appeared the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and came to an uncontrolled rest in the ditch approximately four feet east of US-101. The vehicle constituted a hazard, because it would cause drivers who passed through the area to divert their attention to the car. This would cause them to slow down, and possibly take their eyes off the road. In addition, if the vehicle were to be removed it would cause obstruction of traffic in the northbound lane. There is also the possibility the vehicle would generate 911 calls if left in that area. Therefore AA Rowley’s Towing was called, and they took possession of the car. The vehicle was towed to their tow lot in Newport. OSP attempted to contact the owner of the car at their address and via phone. The owner was not home, and did not answer their phone. On 5/25/2020 at approximately 9:40 AM OSP contacted the driver/owner, and delivered the DMV crash form as well as citations for 811.370, 806.010, and 807.010.
