A Lincoln City woman was killed and her husband and another driver injured in a head-on crash Thursday night on U.S. Highway 101 just south of Seal Rock.
The crash closed the highway for more than three hours.
Judith Larrett, 81, of Lincoln City died at the scene. Her husband, Richard Larrett, 85, and the driver of the other car, Patricia Norenberg, 55, of Waldport, were taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport.
Oregon State Police said their preliminary investigation indicated that Norenberg was driving south in her sports utility vehicle when she drifted into the northbound lane and collided with a van driven by Richard Larrett.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Waldport, Seal Rock and Newport fire departments, the Oregon Department of Transportation’s incident response team, Lincoln County district attorney’s and sheriff’s officers and Newport police.
