To the editor:
I want to thank Lincoln County voters and my many supporters in the race for Lincoln County Circuit Position 1. It’s been another invigorating campaign, and before its completion I want each of you to know that I deeply appreciate your questions, involvement, and enthusiastic support despite this difficult time for all of us.
I ask for your vote one last time. Courtrooms are where people come to access equal justice. Equal justice means that you should expect that your case will be decided on the facts as they develop on a fixed record. It means that your family name, prior history, and who you know (or don’t know) are irrelevant to a just outcome. If you find yourself in court, and you receive an unexpected outcome which can’t be easily explained in common language, something has gone wrong.
If elected, I promise on my oath that I will apply the law neutrally, I will explain my decisions in simple language, and I will decide all matters within three months of submission exactly as ORS 1.050 requires.
