Narrative Summary
*LOG ONLY* On 5/07/2020 at approximately 14:04 OSP responded to a driving complaint regarding a possible drunk driver in Newport City. Newport Police Department had the suspected vehicle pulled over in the Walmart parking lot. The driver admitted to having one drink, and there was an open container inside the car. The driver also consented to SFTS’s, and was found to be not impaired. In addition the driver was suspended, and had no insurance on the vehicle. He was cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and having the open container of alcohol. The vehicle was impounded, and towed by AA Rowley Towing to their tow lot.

***E-CRASH*** On 05/08/20 at approximately 6:37 AM, Oregon State Police was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on SR-18 around milepost 7. Upon arrival, Vehicle #1 (maroon Eagle) was unoccupied. Scene evidence revealed #1 westbound when it traveled over the fogline and shoulder on the north side of the roadway, drove up an embankment and into vegetation, coming to an uncontrolled rest facing west. #1 was taped and tagged for removal. Followup investigation revealed the vehicle had been sold at least twice since the RO. Closed pending further info.

Narrative Summary
On 5/8/2020 at approximately 07:53 AM OSP responded to a motor vehicle crash on SR-34 near mile post 15.5. The vehicle was reported to be on its side in the westbound lane. OSP arrived on scene at the same time as Fire and Medics. The driver declined medical attention. The vehicle was a 2019 black Ford ECS. Based on the road evidence the vehicle drifted over the fog line into the shoulder, then rolled up the embankment and came to an uncontrolled rest on its side. There were multiple alcohol containers in the vehicle and outside. The driver had an odor of alcohol coming from his person, had glassy eyes, and slurred speech. OSP gained consent from the driver for SFST’s. During the tests, the driver displayed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. Waldport Tire and Auto towed the vehicle from the scene to their tow lot. The driver consented to both a breath and urine test. His BAC was 0.00%, and a urine sample was collected. The driver was cited and released for DUII – alcohol and controlled substances.

On 5/9/2020, four subjects were observed clamming in Yaquina Bay in Newport. Troopers observed two of the subjects exceed their daily limit of clams and dig clams for the two other subjects standing nearby, but not actively digging clams. Troopers made contact with the subjects in the parking lot and they were in possession of four daily limits of gaper clams. Twenty four gaper clams were seized as evidence and later donated to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

On the evening of May 10, 2020, property was turned over to the Oregon State Police that had been found on the beach near Seal Rock State Park. The property was determined to belong to a subject who had been reported missing to the Portland Police Bureau. The missing subject was reported to be associated with a maroon Subaru station wagon. An extensive search of the surrounding area was checked including the highways from Newport to Florence and the subject nor vehicle were located.
