Going to state the obvious here – it was very wet in Yachats in January.
The city received 14.52 inches of rain last month, the second-highest amount for the month in the past 10 years. It was also double the rainfall in December.
The 14.52 inches was the highest since 19.12 inches were measured at the city’s wastewater treatment plant in 2012. The low for the month of January is 3.19 in both 2015 and 2010.
The 10-year average for the month is 8.05 inches.
January’s rain is helping make up for a dry 2019, when Yachats recorded 50.43 inches of rain, the second lowest amount in 10 years.
