Yachats is continuing its residential building “boomlet.”
City Planner Dave Mattison told the Planning Commission this week that the city received 12 permits for new, single-family residences in 2019, and so far in 2020 has received two more applications for single-family houses.
That continues a building trend for the past four years.
In 2018 Lincoln County, which handles building permits for the city, issued 11 permits for new, single-family houses in Yachats. In 2017 that number was 15 and in 2016 there were nine.
In 2015 there were 17 permits issued for new houses but seven of those were for the KOHO development on the south side of the Yachats River. Koho owner and developer David Rieseck hopes to finish out that project with the addition of three more houses this year.
Yachats has about 760 houses inside the city.
