YACHATS — December’s first full weekend brings a Santa’s bag full of special holiday events to town. From a tree lighting to wreath-making to Yuletide tunes, the Yachats Winter Festival offers lots of activities for making spirits bright.
“This is our first Winter Festival with so many features,” said Nichole Lippincott, executive director of the Yachats Chamber of Commerce. “There’ll be fun ways to enjoy holiday cheer with entertainment, crafts and gifts.”
The schedule starts Friday, Dec. 6, running through Sunday, Dec. 8, with these seasonal attractions:
FRIDAY
- Vendor Faire: noon to 8 p.m. in the Commons. Almost two dozen vendors offer holiday shopping opportunities in a wide range of crafts and other merchandise.
- Barbershop Quartet: 4-5 p.m. in the Pavilion behind the Commons. A foursome of coastal singers entertains with an hour of holiday tunes, under holiday lighting provided by the city.
- Wreath-making workshop: 5-7 p.m. in the Commons. City manager Bobbi Price hosts a free wreath-making station, with participants welcome to take home their own natural creations.
- Gingerbread house-building (from kits) and gingerbread cookie-decorating: 5-7 p.m. in the Commons.
SATURDAY
- Breakfast with Santa: 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Lions Club Hall. Sponsored by the Lions Club and Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program, the pancake breakfast is prepared by Lions “elves.” Crafts and books will be available. The breakfast is free; donations welcomed. Attendees are asked to RSVP to YYFAP executive director Kristi Anderson by calling 541-547-4599 or emailing her at YYFAPdirector@gmail.com.

Tickets will be on sale for the club’s Oregon Coast Community College scholarship quilt raffle, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund and local service organizations. Drawing will be conducted Dec. 8; winner does not have to be present.
- Hot Cocoa Trail: 2-5:30 p.m. About 10 local businesses plan to offer free cocoa to visitors; signs in front of shops will indicate participating locations.
