The second “Village Mixer” of the year – a chance for people to get to know newcomers and old-timers alike — is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 in the multipurpose room of the Yachats Commons.
Organizer Patty Hodgins says it’s an opportunity for locals to connect with people they haven’t gotten to know before.
The mixer enables each person to have a 2-to-3-minute conversation with each other person in the room.
“The process is basically the same as speed dating,” Hodgins says, but not that serious. “It’s simple, and it doesn’t take all that long. Even confirmed introverts have unexpectedly enjoyed themselves at mixers past.”
After the short conversations, she said, there is time for freestyle mingling over coffee and snacks.
Hodgins urged people to arrive no later than 7 p.m. so that everyone is there for the initial pairing-up.
“Basically it’s a very relaxed get-together,” she said.
