A 51-year-old Waldport man was killed Sunday night on Oregon Highway 34 about 14 miles west of Waldport when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.
Oregon State Police identified the motorcycle rider as Kenneth R. Kearney.
The crash happened about 7:07 p.m., police said, when Kearney was headed west on his 2012 Ducati motorcycle and and failed to negotiate a sweeping left turn and went off the right-hand shoulder of the highway. Police said Kearney suffered fatal injuries when he was thrown off the motorcycle, which landed in roadside brush.
One lane of the highway was was closed for approximately three hours. State police were assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Central Coast Fire Department, Seal Rock Fire Department, PacWest Ambulance and an incident response team from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
