To the editor:
I endorse Melaia McKinley-Kilduff as a candidate for the position of Waldport mayor. I have served with Melaia on the City Council for the past 18 months and admire Melaia’s commitment to our city and issues surrounding government, children, public safety, education, and social events, which make her the ideal candidate.
Melaia is a long-time south Lincoln County resident, who graduated from Waldport High School. She and her husband live just minutes away from where she was raised. Both are very well liked and respected in our community, where they have served long hours as residents and volunteers in various activities.
Waldport needs a fresh perspective and an effective leader who can address key issues and be able to bring the council together to prioritize the city’s many concerns. I am confident that Melaia McKinley-Kilduff will represent all citizens fairly ensuring our city thrives for a better future.

I don’t know if a lifelong residents make the best mayors. But newcomers don’t either. Lambert is neither and offers a broad perspective. It would be interesting to see what she can bring to Waldport. She seems well connected throughout the county and state of Oregon…and beyond.
