To the editor:
Having served concurrently with Commissioner Claire Hall for some years now, I’ve always known her to be a good leader, knowledgeable and attuned to the needs of the entire county, including Waldport where I continue to serve on City Council after four terms as mayor. As an appointed member of Lincoln County’s Budget Committee, I see how Claire always respects our experience and input.
Some years back I also served with Commissioner Hall on a county-wide homeless advisory board. Helping the unhoused individuals and families in our community was and still is a priority for her despite the many challenges — here and nationwide — because she cares for those among us who are struggling and knows that helping them benefits the entire community. She is justly proud of the warming shelters and the significant number of newly built low-income housing units!
Commissioner Hall supported establishing a network of public health clinics in the county, including the one now serving south Lincoln County. Additionally, she was involved in the decision to relocate the county’s animal shelter to Waldport providing a significantly improved facility for our un-homed pet population.
Claire sits on and is often chosen as chair for a number of county and statewide boards and committees, seeking out those best suited for learning, developing partnerships, and winning funding for our county. These relationships are of significant value to us all, and now is not the time to lose out on their benefits.
Our commissioner is smart, knows her job, is collaborative, and, importantly, still passionate about what she does for us! Please join me in re-electing Commissioner Claire Hall to the Lincoln County board of commissioners.
