BLODGETT – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the cause of a two-car collision Saturday on U.S. Highway 20 that killed a Tidewater woman driving one car and a passenger in the second vehicle.
Sheriff’s investigators said Elizabeth L. O’Neill, 52, of Tidewater died about 11 a.m. Saturday when her eastbound Ford Fusion was struck by a westbound Subaru driven by Jessmyn R. Allen, 46, of Umatilla four miles west of Blodgett. A passenger in Allen’s vehicle, Isaiah Aguilar, 23, of Umatilla, was also killed
Deputies said Allen’s vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with O’Neill’s car.
Allen was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with life-threatening injuries, deputies said, and four other patients taken there by ambulance.
The highway was closed for approximately four hours.
The sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation and asked that anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to contact Deputy Daniel Ball at 541-766-6858, or by email at daniel.ball@bentoncountyor.gov.
Three fire departments and four other police agencies responded to the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
