LINCOLN CITY – Lincoln City police Tuesday arrested a 53-year-old staff member at Taft high and elementary schools and charged her with rape and sexual abuse of a boy under the age of 16.
Angela R. Schafer is in the Lincoln County jail on bail of $250,000. Her next court appearance is Nov. 13. Schafer is a health services advocate for Taft schools, which involves helping make sure students have access to medical care.
In a news release Wednesday, Lincoln City police said detectives began their investigation after the victim, a high school student, reported the activity to them and got a search warrant for Schafer’s home. Schafer, who has been a classified employee in the district since 2019, was arrested at the school Tuesday.
Schafer is charged with third-degree rape and sex abuse, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor and furnishing marijuana and alcohol to a minor. Court records indicate the acts occurred on or about Feb. 15.
Police said the Lincoln County School District cooperated fully with its investigation and asked that anyone having information on the case to contact Detective Bud Lane at 541-994-3636.
