Lincoln County residents who suffered storm damage to their property may be eligible for a bit of a break on their property taxes.
The county’s assessor and tax collector said Friday that property owners should be aware of potential adjustments to property tax bills as a result of damage from the January winter storm.
Property owners who experienced damage or destruction resulting in a loss of real market value can apply to have their property reassessed, the county said in a news release, which may result in an adjustment to property taxes owed or already paid.
Applications for reassessment and proration of taxes are available on the county’s website.
Property owners are encouraged to contact the assessor’s office and/or the tax collector’s office for more information.
