The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help locating the person or people responsible for the unlawful killing of a spike bull elk and cow elk along a Forest Service road just outside of Waldport in late August.
A Newport-based state police wildlife trooper discovered a dead spike bull and cow elk Sunday, Aug. 23 just off Forest Service road 5390 road near Waldport. State police believe the elk were shot the previous evening.
The cow elk was left to waste with no meat removed from the carcass and was not salvageable. Most of the meat had been taken from the spike elk.
The agency is asking anyone who was in the area or anyone who may have information on the suspect(s) to call the TIP line at 1-800-452-7888 or email TIP@state.or.us
