Oregon State Police cited two Waldport men Friday, Sept. 20 for criminal trespass while in possession of a firearm for killing a bear last week on private property off Southwest Wakeetum Street.
Police said that about 4:55 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 residents in the Wakeetum Street area head numerous rifle shots and a day later discovered the guts of a black bear on nearby property.
On Friday, Sept. 20, state police said they contacted two men on Southwest Kamela Place in connection with the shots and bear guts. Police said both admitted to killing the bear on private property where they did not have permission to be hunting.
The bear meat was wasted and discarded by one of the men shortly after it was killed.
