The Southwest Lincoln County Water People’s Utility District board has appointed two new members after previous board members moved out of the district.
Roxie Cueller, current manager of the Port of Alsea, was appointed to fill Position 1 on the water utility board. Franklin Sherkow was appointed to fill the vacant Position 4.
The March 11 appointments bring the PUD board up to its five regular positions. Their terms end Jan. 4, 2021 and both appointees have the option to run for the following four-year term, along with any other qualified person.
The water district runs from the Yachats city limits in the south to Waldport in the north. It has 1,258 residential, commercial and government customers, 113 hydrants, a $1.25 million yearly budget and seven employees.
In addition to her Port of Alsea job, Cuellar is on the board of the Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County. Sherkow brings an extensive level of past and present experience from service with a number of governmental agencies, commissions, and private corporations and is a registered engineer in seven states, including Oregon.
Both will be sworn in at the next regular PUD board meeting at 10 a.m. April 8.
