NEWPORT – After a two-year pandemic-forced shutdown, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is resuming its eight-week-long “citizens academy” in January.
This program provides community members with opportunities to learn about the every day operations and services of the sheriff’s office. The classes are from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday nights beginning Jan. 24.
The academy features interactive sessions with staff that cover animal shelter and services, civil service, corrections, emergency management, the K-9 and major crimes teams, patrol and investigations, pretrial services, and search and rescue.
Space is limited and interested people are encouraged to apply early, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Applications will not be accepted after Jan. 3. In addition to the application, participants need to pass a background check.
For further information contact sheriff’s executive assistant Jess Palma at jpalma@co.lincoln.or.us or by calling 541-265-0652.
