To the editor:
Courtrooms can be dramatic and poignant places, but as a combat-tested sex crimes prosecutor on both coasts, I can tell you that what goes on behind the scenes is even more compelling. The quiet, steely heroism of victims and witnesses has inspired my work every step of the way.
Recently, I saw that same strength of character wearing a robe. Hired as a judge pro tem (one step below an elected judge), Amanda Benjamin could have insisted on sticking to her job description when the county needed her. Instead, she quietly filled the void left by Judge Pauline Sanders medical leave and subsequent health-related retirement.
Amanda Benjamin earned the respect, gratitude, and admiration of all three then-sitting elected judges … and the citizens who appear before her.
In my book, that’s more than sufficient reason to vote for Amanda Benjamin for Lincoln County Circuit Court Judge, Position 2. She earned it.
