The hospice program at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport is seeking donated quilts for its annual Quilts for Hospice auction Sept. 30.
Proceeds from the sale of quilts is used to fund services not covered by most insurance plans. These services may include music therapy, massage therapy and other discretionary items supporting patients at the end of their lives.
Quilts can be of any size, stitch pattern, color and texture, to fit on beds or to hang on walls.
Samaritan Evergreen Hospice offers end of life care to patients in their home. The Albany-based program has an office in Newport, staffed by local employees. The program serves approximately 350 patients in Lincoln County each year.
