Samaritan Evergreen Hospice is inviting people with an interest in end-of-life care to attend a film screening and discussion from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Samaritan Center for Health Education in Newport.
Recognizing that caring for someone as they approach the end of their life is not the same as caring for someone who is going to get better, nurse Barbara Karnes created an award-winning educational film, “New Rules for End of Life Care.” It provides guidance on caring for a loved one who is at the end of their life, whether they are at home, in a nursing home or a hospital.
The screening is intended to help people get information to help them better understand the dying process and the stages of death. The film is 30 minutes and will be followed by a 30-minute discussion led by staff from Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.
Samaritan Center for Health Education is located at 740 S.W. Ninth St., directly west of Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. To reserve a seat, send an email to Kelly Sautel at ksautel@samhealth.org.
