A planned electrical outage Thursday afternoon by Central Lincoln Peoples Utility District that affected 470 customers apparently caused little disruption.
The district cut power to the Quiet Water and Koho subdivisions and other residences, the Yachats Inn and the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center south to Carl Washburne State Park about 12:45 p.m. The last power was restored at 5:52 p.m., said Chan Christiansen, CLPUD operations supervisor.
Central Lincoln needed to replace transformers near Quiet Water and move equipment on Cape Perpetua. It decided to do the work in one afternoon rather than have piecemeal outages over a longer period.
The outage did not affect downtown businesses or city of Yachats offices. City crews did fire up two diesel generators to keep two wastewater pumps on the south and north side of the Yachats River operating.
The outage in Quiet Water lasted for two hours. The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center closed for the afternoon. The Yachats Inn was without power for several hours, but a manger there said only a few guests were affected on a bright, warm fall day.
