YACHATS – Get ready to sign up for the Cape Perpetua Collaborative’s popular tidepool tours when registration opens at noon Wednesday, May 10.
The group’s Tidepool Ambassador Program is a free program designed to showcase the biodiversity of the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve. Guests are led by guides to explore the tidepools of Yachats State Park, Bob Creek and Heceta Head State Park.
The collaborative is offering guided tours during low tides over 16 days starting May 20 and ending Aug. 2. Interested participants can visit the collaborative’s events calendar to register for a guided tour after selecting date and location.
Tours are limited to 10 people per guide.
For people who prefer to tidepool on their own, or if space is no longer available, they can talk with trained volunteers who will be stationed at the locations those dates to provide information about the marine reserve and tidepools, species identification, and promote beach safety, stewardship, and etiquette.
This program will take place on selected dates with promising low tides at Heceta Head, Bob Creek, and Yachats State Park.
While the program is free, the collaborative does take donations.
