NEWPORT – The Oregon State University Extension Service in Lincoln County is looking for 20 people interested in serving the community as a master gardener.
Master gardeners serve their community as on-the-ground researchers, with solid training in science-based, sustainable gardening and a love of lifelong learning, the extension service said in announcing the training openings.
The training requires about 40 hours of in-depth education, 45 hours of volunteer service in the first year and then 20 hours of volunteer service and 10 hours of continuing education per year. The course begins Jan. 29 and there are 20 apprentice slots available.
