Crash – Hit and Run

Narrative Summary
On 01/21/20 at approximately 11:45 AM, a two-vehicle hit and run crash occurred on US-20 around milepost 11. Westbound Vehicle #1 (grey Infiniti) rear-end/side-swiped the trailer of Vehicle #2 (blue Walsh CMV hauling chips), nearly tearing of its right front fender. #1 did not stop and was later intercepted by LCSO deputies in Newport. No injuries were reported, both drivers wore safety restraints and no airbags deployed. Driver #1 arrested for DUII-Alcohol and Fail to perform duties of a driver (refer to LCSO # 20S-00133)

eCrash – On 1/22/20 at approximately 10AM I responded to a vehicle crash near milepost 5 of Highway 20 in Toledo, Oregon. Evidence supports an eastbound red Ford Mustang overtook a silver colored Chevrolet SUV and collided with the front driver side quarter panel. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported. No citations issued.

Narrative Summary
On 01/22/2020 at approximately 12:00 PM, OSP Troopers attempted to locate a suspect vehicle, a green 1997 GMC Jimmy that had left the scene of a domestic disturbance in the Gleneden Beach area. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area to investigate a report from a female that indicated the driver of the GMC had strangled her and had struck her in the back of the head. The vehicle was located by a Newport Police Department Detective and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputy near milepost 133 on US Highway 101. OSP Troopers responded to the location of the stop to assist. The driver of the GMC was taken into custody on a PV detainer. Arrangements were made for the driver’s family to pick up the vehicle. The LCSO Deputy was continuing follow up of the domestic disturbance.

Narrative Summary
Vehicle was eastbound near milepost 8 on hwy 18 when it drove off onto the right shoulder and down an embankment and into the Salmon River. After entering the water, the vehicle travelled approx 200 feet down stream in the fast moving water. The driver was able to extricate herself from the passenger compartment and crawled onto the roof of the vehicle to await rescue. North Lincoln Fire arrived and was able to get a water rescue firefighter out to the driver and bring her back to shore. She was transported to North Lincoln Hospital for evaluation. Vehicle is still in the river due to the unsafe conditions created by the fast moving water.

***E-CRASH*** On 01/22/20 at approximately 2:10 PM, a two-vehicle crash occurred on US-101 at the North Fogarty Creek State Park outlet. Vehicle #1 (silver CR-V) was pulling out of the state park to turn southbound directly in front of northbound Vehicle #2 (black Nitro). #2collided into the driver side of #1. No injuries were reported, all occupants wore safety restraints, airbags deployed in #2. Driver #1 cited for 811.265 Fail to obey traffic control device. Drivers handled their own tows.
